Originally from Oklahoma City, OK, I graduated with a BA in English Literature from Oklahoma State University. I got my start in marketing when I was living in Austin, TX back in 2005. I had a couple of radio shows on a KOOP 91.7FM, and soon after started working as a grassroots marketer for record labels. I was a street team promoter for Beggar's Group: 4AD, Rough Trade, Matador, XL recordings, and more.
As part of that work, I also created social media campaigns for the Street Syndicate and promoted musicians and comedians. It was a ton of fun, and that momentum took me out to Los Angeles, in 2007, where I would work my way up as the website/social media manager for the Fonda Theater, in Hollywood, CA. I loved running the social media for the venue, creating newsletters and getting the word out. Connecting people to the music and the experience was what I lived for.
However, after a few years in Los Angeles, it was time to migrate up to the Pacific NW. Once I got there, in 2010, I started taking graphic/web design classes, perfecting my skills, and eventually took a job with the Rheinlander and Gustav's restaurants as the Marketing Coordinator. It was a great learning experience and by 2015 it was time to venture into the world of freelance marketing. I started Cascade Creative PDX, and began a new, exciting chapter being my own boss, and working on my small biz dream.
